Painful Diabetic Neuropathy and Neuromodulation
Painful Diabetic Neuropathy (PDN):

PDN is a complication that is associated with Diabetes and affects the nerves in the Legs and the Feet, causing pain and many other symptoms. PDN can also cause issues throughout the body, affecting the patient's general mobility, sleep and quality of life.
Diabetic neuropathy is a progressive disease and can get worse the longer it goes untreated. The more symptoms present, the more challenging it becomes to do everyday tasks, like walking and bending over. There are a few treatment options for PDN, including medications, topical creams and minimally invasive Spinal Cord Stimulators (Neuromodulation).
Symptoms
-
Leg and/or Foot Pain During the Day, or at Night
-
Unusual Tingling, Burning or Prickling Feelings in the Legs or Feet
-
Leg and/or Foot Sensitivity to Touch and/or Temperature
-
Numbness Feeling in Legs or Feet
-
Random Sharp Pains or Cramping of the Legs and/or Feet
Treatments
Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) Trial:
Neuromodulation is a procedure that alters the nerve activity in the body, ultimately significantly lowering the pain in the patient. SCS's use Neuromodulation in the spinal cord to treat patients with Painful Diabetic Neuropathy, or Chronic Pain of the lower back, or lower & upper extremities. At Expert Vascular Care we can provide a minimally invasive procedure that allows the patient to trial a temporary Spinal Cord Stimulator for one week, to see if the treatment will relieve the pain, before moving to a permanent Stimulator.
